Reports To: School President

Job Goal: In the absence of the regular classroom Professor to help scholars to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.

  • Reports to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.  Follows sign in/out procedures as prescribed by the president.
  • Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom professor.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.  Straightens chairs, tables, clears whiteboard, etc.
  • Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
  • Indicates to scholars at beginning of class the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with school regulations and policies.
  • Insures that the scholars are never left unattended in the classroom.
  • May perform duties usually required of absent professor such as lunchroom duty, hall monitoring, etc.
  • Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
  • Knows procedures for referring scholars who are disciplinary problems.
  • Knows school procedures and regulations. 
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the President.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidate must attend an orientation/training session.
  • Candidate must agree to authorize The Influence1 Foundation to conduct a Criminal History Search/fingerprinting.
  • Candidate must possess good moral character.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds may be required. Other physical activities may be required. Occasional travel with scholars on field trips may be necessary. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards. Occasional movement of scholars by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular Instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required on assigned days. Regular contact with other staff members and building administrator(s) is required on assigned days as a substitute.
